This beautiful blade is handmade from high quality 1095 steel with a hardened (baked-on) black powder epoxy coating to provide additional corrosion resistance. This gives it a very handsome and unique look while also protecting it from rust. 1095 is a high carbon steel (not a stainless steel) commonly used in heavy duty tools. It can carry an extremely sharp edge. 1095 makes great steel for heavy duty choppers and survival knives because of its extreme durability and resistance to chipping, easy sharpening and edge retention. It is much tougher than premium stainless steels. Because it is a high carbon steel, it is very important to keep it clean and oiled. Take extra care to store a knife made of 1095 out of any leather cases (this is a good idea for all knives) and keep a thin layer of lubricant on the exposed (non-black powder coated portions of the) steel. This knife blank is custom designed by us and 100% hand-forged. SHEATH DESCRIPTION (click here to see more images from this items individual page) Note: This is a right-handed-draw sheath when worn on your belt at your back (referred to as scout style), or it can also be a left-handed-draw sheath when worn on your belt at the hip. Please ensure your blade/knife fits within all the specifications listed below: Fits up to 5" long Tracker blade. Smooth black color Fits up to 2.1" wide Tracker blade (2.125" wide blades are a tight fit). Fits up to 7/8" thick knife handle (Thicker handles are not supported. The button will not snap on handles which are too thick). High quality Tracker style knife sheath. 8.25" total length sheath (outer dimension). 2" wide at sheath opening. 1/8" Thick Highest-Quality Genuine Cow Leather. White stitching. High quality. HANDLE MATERIAL DESCRIPTION (click here to see more images from this items individual page) This is a beautiful pair of green and black G-10 handle making scales for making a knife or gun grips. G-10 is an extremely durable material constructed from layers of fiberglass soaked in resin, then oven-baked after compression. G-10 is impervious to UV, moisture & liquid. It is flame resistant and physically stable under climate change. G10 is used the world over in a variety of industrial applications as insulation material and is a high-end handle material due to its unrivaled toughness, low maintenance and excellent grip characteristics. It is also used as reinforcement parts in many types of sports equipment due to its flexibility. When sanded down and shaped, the layers will become visible, giving an exceptionally handsome look. After sanding and shaping of these scales is complete, it is recommended to rub Vaseline on the scales and wipe them off until theyre not greasy. The colors will become more brilliant and Vaseline wont evaporate like mineral oil. You get 2 scales with each set. MOSAIC PIN DESCRIPTION (click here to see more images from this items individual page) Our mosaic pins are hand-crafted by a veteran knife-maker in the USA. Please note: Our customer service representatives are not be able to measure pin hole sizes or answer pin-related questions about our various knife blanks. Also, the pin hole sizes and locations in our blanks can vary from batch to batch. Thank you for your understanding and respecting this. As a second note: It is possible to drill any knife blanks pin holes larger (or create your own pin hole locations). You simply need to use drill bits intended for drilling metal, which are capable of drilling through hardened high carbon steel. This method is recommended because you be able will get the exact fit you are looking for when using our mosaic pins. Specifics: This mosaic pin is 3/16" in diameter. You will receive one piece of mosaic pin stock. Each piece comes in approximately 5.8" length. We use only the highest quality brass, copper and steel. If your knife handle is 0.75"-0.9" thick, this mosaic piece will make 6 pins when cut, good for several knives. If your knife handle is 0.95"-1.15" thick, this mosaic piece will make 5 pins when cut, good for several knives. If your knife handle is 1.2"-1.4" thick, this mosaic piece will make 4 pins when cut, good for several knives. Our mosaic pins have been vacuum-pumped to remove air bubbles. The resin is pulled in with a high-end vacuum, which pulls the glue down, and removes any small bubbles. The pins are cured afterward and lastly polished and burrs removed. The center of the mosaic pin is filled with clear epoxy resin. The filling will appear dark when initially received, however light will be able to shine through when you are done cutting this down to small pieces for your knife handle. The transparency will become evident with the smaller length pieces. You wont get any "rattlers" with our high quality mosaic pins (a "rattler" is where you have loose pieces inside the mosaic pin due to inadequate vacuum pumping out of air bubbles prior to the curing stage).
